EngagedMD boosts patient and staff satisfaction

Introduction

In the world of fertility treatments, informed consent is critical. Patients need to understand the risks and benefits of their treatment options before making a decision. However, the traditional paper-based consent process can be time-consuming and confusing. That's where the EngagedMD platform comes in. This multimedia e-learning and e-consent platform aims to make the informed consent process more accessible and user-friendly for patients.

A recent study published in Fertility and Sterility aimed to determine if the use of the EngagedMD platform influences patients' perception of their treatment team and eases the administrative burden. The study was a prospective randomized controlled trial that included 77 patients undergoing their first intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle. Patients were randomized to receive standard fertility counseling and sign paper consents with their physician and nurse team (conventional group) or to receive standard counseling plus access to the EngagedMD platform.

The Results

The results of the study were exciting. Patients who had access to the EngagedMD platform reported a more positive treatment experience and perception of their treatment team.

Of the patients that used the online platform:

  • 92% preferred EngagedMD online consents over standard paper consents
  • 92% agreed that it was helpful
  • 81% felt it was user-friendly
  • 85 % would recommend it to a friend

In addition to the positive implications for patients, the EngagedMD platform also had benefits for physicians and nurses. The platform reduced the administrative burden of the informed consent process, allowing healthcare providers to focus on patient care.

Conclusion

Overall, the study suggests that the EngagedMD platform has the potential to improve the informed consent process for fertility patients. By making the process more accessible and user-friendly, patients can make more informed decisions about their treatment options. Additionally, healthcare providers can focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks. The EngagedMD platform is a promising tool for improving the fertility treatment experience for patients and healthcare providers alike.
